How can medical malpractice cause Erb's palsy?

Malpractice and Erb's Palsy

Erb's palsy is also known as Brachial Plexus Paralysis, and can affect up to five of the primary nerves that allow feeling to be transmitted to and from the arms. The cause of Erb's palsy is almost always birth trauma, and a reputable erb's palsy lawyer can help you understand your rights. Some birth trauma is caused by a baby forcing its way through the birth canal, and there is no way to prevent it. Other birth trauma is caused by the doctors and other medical personnel who deliver your baby. If the doctors use forceps or other means of pulling the baby through the birth canal, or if they force a vaginal birth with a baby that is too large, they can cause Erb's palsy. This condition can leave children with nerve damage which can be either short-lived or permanent. If you think your doctor committed medical malpractice and caused your child to have Erb's palsy, you should consult legal help.
